The Lavinuoz in the headwaters

The Lavinuoz is an eight kilometer long left tributary of the Inn in the Swiss canton of Graubünden . The torrent drains the Val Lavinuoz , a side valley of the Lower Engadine that is bordered by Piz Linard in the west and Piz Fliana , Piz Champatsch and Piz Chapisun in the east.

The Lavinuoz rises namelessly at around 2950  m above sea level. M. a small glacier in the Paraid Alba area below the ridge that stretches from the gate guard to the southeast.

After about 500 meters to the south-east through a scree field, the stream reaches 2617  m above sea level. M. the name Lavinuoz. Shortly afterwards it plunges into the upper Val Lavinuoz and at the same time takes in several spring streams that arise from the Vadret Tiatscha glacier . It now flows mainly to the south-southeast and passes the Piz Tiatscha before it reaches the landslide area of Las Maisas , where it picks up the drains of the Vadret da las Maisas from the right. The Val Lavinuoz floodplain , which is of regional importance , now stretches from here to the Alp d'Immez . He passes the Chamanna Marangun hut and flows through the Plan San Jon area .

Behind the Alp d'Immez follows the Era Veglia and Alp Dadoura area . After a small hydropower station, forests now line the valley slopes, while the Lavinuoz plunges into the Lower Engadine in several cascades . Above Lavin it forms a small ravine, after which it is bridged by main road 27 or main road 28 and immediately afterwards by the Bever – Scuol – Tarasp railway line .

After flowing through the village of Lavin, the Lavinuoz finally flows out at 1379  m above sea level. M. from the left into the Inn.

The catchment area of ​​the Lavinuoz measures 21.83 square kilometers, of which 63.2% is unproductive area , 15.2% agricultural area, 13.8% glaciers and firn, 7.1% wooded area , 0.5% water area and 0.2% Settlement area .
