Leśniów Wielki (German Groß-Lessen ) is a village in the powiat Zielonogórski in the Lubusz Voivodeship in Poland. It belongs to the municipality of Czerwieńsk (Rothenburg / Oder) . The distance to the district town of Zielona Góra (Grünberg in Silesia) is 15 kilometers.
history
Groß-Lessen belonged to the Duchy of Glogau . It must have been founded before 1305, as it was registered as “Leßnow” in the Glogau register as property of the “Szenko” that year. It can no longer be determined today whether this Szenko is the wealthy family of the von Landsberg taverns , who owned many estates in this area at that time and acted as overlords. A document dated May 23, 1418 because of border disputes between the town of Crossen and the brothers Erich von Lessnaw, Christoph, Fritsche, Hans and Jürge von Lessnaw shows that Lessen was then owned by the von Lessnaw ( von Lessel ) family . The von Rothenburg families followed on from Nettkow , von Zedlitz , von Arnold and the von Schierstädt family were the last owners until the end of the Second World War. The predominantly Protestant population was parochialized with the Protestant church in Logau , Crossen district. The few Catholic residents had their own church, which belonged to the Kosel parish in the Freystadt district .
