history

On July 16, 2013 Fincantieri and Compagnie Du Ponant signed a contract for the construction of a fourth ship, after the ships Le Boréal , L'Austral and Le Soléal had already been built between 2010 and 2013 . The ship was launched on October 23, 2014. It was delivered to the shipping company on April 11, 2015. The maiden voyage began on May 9, 2015 in Venice .

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two electric motors with an output of 2,300  kW each. The motors act on two fixed propellers . The ship reaches a speed of up to 16  knots .

Four diesel generators with an output of 1,600 kW each ( apparent power : 2,000  kVA ) as well as a generator with an output of 800 kW (apparent power: 1000 kVA) and an emergency generator with an output of 600 kW (apparent power: 750 kVA) are available for the power supply Available.

There is space for 264 passengers in 122 cabins on board. There are only outside cabins. 114 cabins have their own balcony. The ship has seven decks, six of which are accessible to passengers.

The hull of the ship is reinforced with ice ( ice class 1C), so the ship can also be used in the polar regions. In order to be able to bring passengers ashore during expedition cruises even in areas without port infrastructure, the ship is equipped with Zodiac inflatable boats.

The ship is named after the constellation lyre (Lyra).
