While in the early years it carried the addition of Journal hebdomadaire under the title, it was dispensed with in later years. At the beginning of 1938 the Monde illustré merged with the Miroir du monde and then bore the title Le Monde illustré / Miroir du monde for several years from No. 4173 . The last edition for the time being (No. 4296) appeared on June 8, 1940, another publication has been suspended since the occupation of Paris on June 14, 1940.
The next regular issue (No. 4297) appeared on February 22, 1945. In terms of presentation, it now resembled American Life , with a portrait of Georgi Konstantinowitsch Schukow on the front page . At the end of 1948, Monde illustré merged with France Illustration to form France Illustration / Le Monde illustré . In 1955 the name Le Monde illustré disappears completely when the France Illustration merges with the Nouveau Férmina to form the Nouveau Fémina et France Illustration , or a short time later only under the title Fémina Illustration .
