Career

societies

Williamson, who comes from a family of Arsenal supporters, started at Arsenal at the age of nine and has played in the FA Women's Super League first team since 2014 . In her first season, which ended Arsenal in fourth place, she was used in 13 of the 14 league games and was 11 times in the starting line-up. On September 4, 2014, she scored her first league goal in a 3-2 draw against local rivals Chelsea. On June 1, she won her first adult title with the FA Women's Cup . She also played in the 2013/14 UEFA Women's Champions League , when she was substituted on for a nine-minute short game in the quarter-finals against league rivals Birmingham City LFC .

In 2015 , when Arsenal finished third, she was only used in half of the league games as she played with the English U-19 team at the same time. But she was able to win the WSL Cup with Arsenal. Also in 2016 Arsenal finished third again, and Williamson was used in eight of 14 games. The season was crowned by winning the FA Women's Cup.

In the "Spring Series" called short transition season 2017, it was only used in three of eight games. This short season ended in third place, just like the previous and the following season 2017/18, which was now adapted to the normal European game calendar, in which she played 17 out of 18 games. However, the WSL Cup was won for the second time. In 2018/19 the title was won again seven years after the last championship. Williamson was not used only once.

National teams

In April 2012 Williamson took part with the U-17 team in the second qualifying round for the 2012 U17 European Championship . All three games of the English women ended with only one goal, but only once for the English women, so they missed the finals. Another attempt was made in September, but this time the first qualifying round was over. The English women did not have to qualify for the final round of the U17 European Championship 2014 , which was held in September 2013 , as they were automatically qualified as hosts. Williamson led the U-17s as captain in the tournament, which ended with fourth place.

In April 2014 she then took part with the U-19 team in the second qualifying round for the U19 European Championship . The English women qualified with three wins without conceding a goal. She did not take part in the finals in Norway in July , where her team lost the three group matches, as they took part in the U20 World Cup in Canada in August with the U-20 team . Here the English women were eliminated after the group stage.

In April 2015, the U-19 team qualified for the U19 European Championship 2015 , to which they contributed with four goals. On April 9, she converted a penalty in the 6th minute of stoppage time of a resumed game to the 2-2 final against Norway, whereby the qualification succeeded. The resumption had become necessary after a protest by the English women. Williamson had already converted the penalty five days earlier, but the goal was not recognized by the German referee because some English players ran into the penalty area too early. But instead of having the penalty repeated, the referee ruled illegally on a free kick for Norway. The resumption is a unique case in the history of UEFA and took place a few hours after the last group game against Switzerland, which was won 3-1. She did not take part in the finals and instead played for Arsenal in the league.

But she had to wait until November 2017 for her first invitation to the senior national team. She made her first appearance seven months later: In the 3-1 win on June 8, 2018 in Moscow in the World Cup qualifier against Russia , she was substituted on in the 84th minute. On September 4, 2018, she was in the starting line-up for the last qualifying game, which was won 6-0 against Kazakhstan , and played for 90 minutes. This was followed by a four-minute short stint against Australia in October and 90 minutes against Austria in November.

In March 2019 she won the SheBelieves Cup for the first time and was used in the 3-0 win against Japan . This was followed by a use in the 2-1 home win against Spain and on May 8, the nomination for the World Cup in France . At the World Cup, she only had a six-minute brief appearance in the round of 16 against Cameroon . Your team finished fourth in the end.

In the friendly against the Czech Republic on November 12, 2019, she scored her first international goal to make it 3-2.
