Leeskow , Lask in Lower Sorbian , is a place in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in southern Brandenburg . Leeskow is a locality of Lindchen , part of the municipality of New Zealand in the Altdöbern district and is part of the official settlement area of ​​the Sorbs / Wends .

Leeskow is located in Niederlausitz in the western part of the municipality of New Zealand. In the east and north border the municipal parts Lindchen, Lubochow and Kunersdorf , which is also a locality of Lindchen. In the south and west are districts of Großräschen , Allmosen , Woschkow and Dörrwalde .

history

In 1536 Leeskow was first mentioned as a property of the von Muschelwitz family . The Muschelwitz family also owned Petershain, a place near Neupetershain and Leuthen, part of today's Drebkau municipality . In 1691 Hans Caspar the Younger von Muschwitz sold the village to Christoph Heinrich von Lambo for 3,100 Thaler. He sold it in 1697 to Lieutenant Colonel Georg Sigismund von Reiswitz for 5250 Thaler. His widow sold the Leeskow estate in 1722 for 10,200 thaler to Christian Ernst von Knoch. After Knoch's death on January 4, 1756 in nearby Pritzen , his son Otto Ernst von Knoch inherited Leeskow. After Knoch died on November 30, 1787, the son of his sister Christian Friedrich von Rex inherited it . He died childless on August 27, 1802. His heiress and widow Johanna Elisabeth von Waltersdorf married Count Friedrich von Beust , who died on December 4, 1821.

Until the first half of the 19th century, Sorbian was the predominant language in the area. In 1884 Arnošt Muka had 105 inhabitants in Leeskow, 35 of them Sorbs (33%) and 70 Germans.

In 1840, Lieutenant Eduard Vogel was named as the owner of the estate. It remained in Vogel's possession until at least 1861. 1508 acres are named as the size. In 1885 Arthur Petrich is mentioned as the owner of Leeskow, and around 1907 his son, public prosecutor Walter Petrich from Hanover inherits the place. After a series of other changes of ownership, the Anhalt coal mines acquired the estate around 1923.

On January 1, 1926, Kunersdorf was incorporated into Leeskow. On January 1, 1974, the Leeskow was incorporated into Lindchen. In the course of the Brandenburg municipal area reform, the New Zealand municipality was formed on February 1, 2002 from the municipalities of Lubochow , Ressen and Bahnsdorf as well as Lindchen and the localities.
