Leftöver Crack (more rarely: Leftover Crack ; abbreviation: LöC ) is a punk band from New York City that emerged from the band Choking Victim and incorporates many death metal , hardcore punk and ska elements into their music . These style elements combine in such a way that they cannot actually be classified as a pure punk rock band. Violins , violins and organs are also used in their albums . They also recorded songs with Brody from The Distillers and The World / Inferno Friendship Society .
Unusual texts
In addition to some of the usual punk rock texts against the state , Nazis and the police , individual songs also deal with rather unusual topics. For example, the song "Life is Pain", which is about the quality and quantity of life with a growing world population . This song speaks out against the "rabid" increase of people, because they would be too weak and too stupid for that world. Correlations and various interpretations must also be taken into account, which is why this statement should not be judged immediately.
The band also places one of their main focuses on homophobia and its fight. In their song "Gay Rude Boys Unite" they sing about the fact that homophobia is a disease of society and that homosexuals should recapture the dance floor. They refer to homophobic tendencies in Jamaican society (homosexual acts are punishable there) and especially in the texts of Jamaican musical styles such as reggae or dancehall ( "... you're turning your native music into a homophobic disgrace." ).
However, political inaccuracies can also be found, which meet resistance even in the punk scene, left scene or pacifists . For example, they sing about schoolchildren being shot, but with the song "Rock the 40 oz" they also criticize the American education system and the lack of prospects for young people. On the cover of the album "Fuck World Trade" you can see the burning World Trade Center with gas pumps. You yourself refer to world trade as a "death machine" ("World Trade is a Death Machine!").
Death of the substitute drummer
On December 17, 2004, substitute drummer Brandon of the X-possibles died after a concert at the Red Blood Club in a hotel while sleeping. More precise circumstances are not known. He was buried in New Jersey on December 22, 2004. The Austrian Candee ( Antimaniax , Beatbrats, Candy Beat Camp , Springy Pinestix, The Staggers ) joined Leftöver Crack for the late drummer and supported her on European tours and in the studio.
