The German Disabled Sports Association (DBS), the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) for Germany, sent 34 athletes (19 women and 15 men) and three accompanying runners to the 2011 World Athletics Championships for the disabled , including five defending champions. Mathias Mester was unable to take part because he was in rehabilitation training after a back operation. 15 of the 34 athletes were at an IPC World Cup for the first time, and eleven of the participants ranked first in the world rankings for the qualifying period.

The average age of the team was 29.7 years: the youngest participant was Maike Hausberger , who shortly before celebrated her 16th birthday, and at 57 years Marianne Buggenhagen was the oldest athlete.

In addition to national coach Willi Gernemann u. a. Karl-Heinz Düe , Lutz Kramer , Steffi Nerius , Klaus Schneider , Jürgen Schult and Norbert Stein.
