Marianne Buggenhagen (born May 26, 1953 in Ueckermünde ) is a German athlete with a sports career in disabled sports , in which she won nine gold medals at 7 Paralympic Summer Games . She has been in a wheelchair since she was 23 years old . She is a social worker in a Berlin clinic for paraplegics . Two schools for the physically handicapped bear her name.

Services

Marianne Buggenhagen won a total of nine gold medals in seven Paralympics . She holds three world records (in the shot put, in discus throw and in all-around competitions, as of 2008). She won world and European championships and over 140 national titles.

Appreciation

Two special schools were named after her. One of them is next to the Oehrenfeld disabled facility in Darlingerode , the other is in the Berlin district of Buch .
