The German Disabled Sports Association (DBS), the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) for Germany, initially set up 34 athletes as the Germany Paralympic Team (until the end of August 2019: "German Paralympic Team"). As feared, their number fell to 32, as 400-meter European champion Lindy Ave and shot put world champion Daniel Scheil had to cancel their participation due to injury. It was already clear beforehand that due to injuries, Frank Tinnemeier and the shot put world champion from 2017 Frederike Koleiski , as well as the javelin European champion from 2018 Mathias Mester were prevented. Tom Malutedi was also out for a short time . After a long period of suffering, David Behre was able to tackle his comeback.

The 31 athletes included two guides, seven Paralympic winners and just as many current world champions and twelve World Cup debutants. At 17, Nele Moos was the youngest participant. The Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia (BRSNW) made up over half of the German team with 18 athletes.

For the competitors, the World Championships are important with regard to a starting place at the Paralympic Summer Games 2020 in Tokyo , because those who occupy one of the top four places secure a quota place. Further opportunities to get a starting place are available until April 2020 via the world rankings, and there is still time until the beginning of July 2020 for individual compliance with the standards.

Results

Because of the run-up, the long jump was reclassified from 'F' to 'T'.
