Lindy Ave (born July 9, 1998 in Neubrandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) is a German athlete in the starting class T38 , who specializes in short and long sprints as well as long jump . It also runs in the season .

career path

Lindy Ave finished her school days in Neubrandenburg in 2014 and went to Greifswald in order to be able to combine sport and further training . Before the IPC European Championships in Berlin , she completed her training as a housekeeper .

Athletic career

Ave began at the age of nine on the advice of her doctor at the state school for the physically handicapped with athletic training, which was run by the Recreational and Sports Club for the Disabled . She could be won for club sport at SC Neubrandenburg , took part in swimming and athletics training and was successful in both sports.

In 2010, Ave started competitive sports.

In 2014 she moved to the state training center in Greifswald . Since then, he has concentrated on athletics and trained at the HSG University of Greifswald .

In 2015, Ave started at the IWAS World Junior Games in Stadskanaal (Netherlands) and became world champion over 100 m as well as with the 4 x 100 meter relay , as well as runner-up over 200 m and in the long jump. At the Grand Prix Final in London, she immediately reached 3rd place on the 100 m course.

In 2016, Ave came in 5th at the IPC European Championships in the adult class in Grosseto (Italy) over 100 and 200 m and in 6th place in the long jump. At the IWAS U23 World Games in Prague , Ave confirmed her form and became both world champion over 100 and 200 m and took 3rd place in the long jump. At the International German Championships (IDM) in Berlin, she became German U20 champion in the 100 m and champion in the long jump. Over the 200 m, she took 4th place. Finally, Ave was nominated as a participant in the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she reached 5th place in the 100-meter run with a personal best of 13.20 s. In the long jump, Ave improved her personal best by 2 cm to 4.47 m and took 6th place. In the 4 x 100 meter relay with Maria Seifert and Claudia as well as Nicole Nicoleitzik , she came in 4th place with the season's best performance.

In 2017, Ave in London was IPC vice world champion over 200 m with her personal best , won bronze in the 100-meter sprint and reached 4th place in the long jump.

In 2018 she came on the podium in four disciplines at the IPC European Championships in Berlin. Ave won gold over 400 m and silver over 100 and 200 m as well as in the long jump with a personal best of 4.71 m and improved the German record she held. When she started in the mixed 4 x 100 meter relay , she was disqualified in advance due to false starts (rule 23.6).

In 2019, Ave could not take part in the World Championships in Dubai due to an injury .

Lindy Ave is at HSG Uni Greifswald and was at SC Neubrandenburg until 2014 . She competes in the starting class T38 (athletes with slight spasticity ).
