The Lembe , also called Lembaz , is a 14 km long left tributary of the Broye . It drains a small section of the central plateau of French- speaking Switzerland, flowing through areas of the cantons of Vaud and Friborg .

The headwaters of the Lembe are located south of the Bois de la Rigne ridge in the municipality of Thierrens (Canton of Vaud), at about 780 m above sea level. M. in the Molasse hill country between the valleys of the Mentue in the west and the Broye in the east. The Lembe flows northeast in a relatively wide valley and is flanked by the ridges of the surrounding Molasse hills (700 to 800 m above sea level). At Prévondavaux the brook crosses into the canton of Freiburg ( exclave Surpierre ). Below Cheiry , the Lembe turns in a gentle curve to the east, reaches Vaudois soil again, flows through the valley of Les Vaux and emerges at Granges-près-Marnand into the middle Broyetal. Here it flows out at 465 m above sea level. M. in the Broye. Except in the source area, the Lembe has a fairly constant gradient of around 2%.

The catchment area of the Lembe is 26.69 km² and consists of 30.7% forest land , 63.4% agricultural area and 5.8% settlement area .
The mean height of the catchment area is 674 m above sea level. M. , the minimum height is 462 m above sea level. M. and the maximum height at 833 m above sea level. M.

The Lembe moves in a largely natural stream bed, only the lowest section through the village of Granges-près-Marnand is canalized.

The Lembe's hydropower has been used to operate mills and sawmills in the Vallon de la Lembaz since the Middle Ages .
