Lemnitzhammer is a district of the municipality of Rosenthal am Rennsteig in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

geography

Lemnitzhammer lies between Harra and Bad Lobenstein below the Geiersberg at the confluence of the Lemnitz in the Saale . In terms of traffic, the district is opened up by the L 2372 and the Harra Nord stop slightly outside on the Oberlandbahn line ( Saalfeld -) Unterlemnitz - Blankenstein (part of the Triptis – Marxgrün line ).

history

Lemnitzhammer was first mentioned in a document on December 20, 1509. In Harra it is assumed that the district was mentioned in documents as early as 1370 as a hammer mill , copper smelter and iron works with permission to run a brewery . In 1670 the largest brewery in the Russian Oberland developed in Harra . Around 1650 water floods destroyed the copper works . In 1851 a cloth factory and wool spinning mill were operated. Later they switched to art furniture and wooden goods production. In 1929–1932 there were major changes due to the construction of the Bleilochtalsperre . The spinning mill and the brewery were demolished. In 1933 a new brewery was built, which produced beer until the summer of 1991.
