Leo Wagener , also Léon Wagener , (born April 12, 1962 in Ettelbrück , Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Luxembourg .

Life

Leo Wagener entered the Luxembourg seminary in 1982 after graduating from the Lycée Classique Diekirch . After studying philosophy and theology at the Trier Theological Faculty (1982–1987) and at the Institut Catholique de Paris (1985–1986), he received the sacrament of priestly ordination on July 2, 1988 by Archbishop Jean Hengen . He was initially a chaplain in Diekirch . From 1988 to 1991 he was an adjunct national auditor and from 1991 to 2011 national auditor of the "Lëtzebuerger Jongbaueren a Jongwënzer" and the "Lëtzebuerger rural youth". In 1990 he took over the pastor's position in St. Willibrord in Steinbrücken near Monnerich , and from 1992 onwards the office of diocesan youth pastor . In 2006 he moved as pastor to Bonneweg , a place in Luxembourg City and pastor-moderator of the pastoral team for the parish associations Bonneweg-Hamm and Sacré-Cœur as well as dean of the dean's office in Luxembourg-East. From 2010 to 2011 he was the regional dean of the pastoral region of Luxembourg (2007-2010). In 2011 he became Episcopal Delegate for Pastoral Affairs. In 2012 he became a member of the cathedral chapter and cathedral chapter of the Cathedral of Our Lady . In 2013 he was appointed episcopal vicar for pastoral work. Since 2014 he has also been a pastor in the parish association "Steesel-Walfer Sainte-Trinité". In 2015, Archbishop Jean-Claude Hollerich was appointed Vicar General in the Archdiocese of Luxembourg .

On 24 July 2019 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Aquae Novae in Numidia and Auxiliary Bishop in Luxembourg.
