Leopold "Leo" Windtner (born August 30, 1950 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is honorary President of the Austrian Football Association ( ÖFB ) and former General Director of Energie AG Upper Austria .

biography

Windtner graduated from the Federal Trade Academy in Linz and then completed a degree in world trade at the Vienna University of Economics , which he completed in 1977 with a doctorate. In 1978 he started at Oberösterreichische Kraftwerke AG (OKA), today's Energie AG Oberösterreich ; In 1985 he was appointed head of department and in 1994 he was appointed chairman of the board and general manager. His contract was extended in June 2009 for a further five years until October 31, 2014. At the beginning of March 2017, he finally handed over the post of General Director to his successor  Werner Steinecker .

From 1989 to 1996 Windtner was President of the Upper Austria Sports Union , then President of the Upper Austrian Football Association until 2009. From 1999 Windtner was Vice President of the ÖFB and after the resignation of Friedrich Stickler on November 7, 2008, Windtner was elected ÖFB President with a majority in the vote against Günter Kaltenbrunner in February 2009.

Windtner was politically active in the community of St. Florian and was its deputy mayor from 1979 to 1985 and mayor from 1985 to 1995.

Since 1996 he has been chairman of the St. Florian Boys' Choir . He has been a member of the Catholic student union KÖHV Franco-Bavaria Vienna since 1970 . He later became a member of the KAV Capitolina Rome .

From 2004 Windtner was President of the Supervisory Board of the Upper Austrian Insurance Company . Reinhold Mitterlehner succeeded him in this position in June 2019 .

Windtner is married and has three daughters. He lives in St. Florian near Linz.
