Leonard Paul Blair (born April 12, 1949 in Detroit ) is an American Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Hartford .

Life

The Archbishop of Detroit , Cardinal John Francis Dearden , ordained him a priest on June 26, 1976 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Detroit and titular bishop of Voncariana on July 9, 1999 . The Archbishop of Detroit, Adam Joseph Cardinal Maida , ordained him episcopal on August 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Edmund Casimir Cardinal Szoka , President of the Governorate of Vatican City , and Dale Joseph Melczek , Bishop of Gary . As a motto he chose Pasce Oves Mea .

He was appointed Bishop of Toledo on October 7, 2003, and was introduced to the office on December 4 of the same year.

Pope Francis appointed Blair Archbishop of Hartford on October 29, 2013; the inauguration took place on December 16 of the same year.
