Leopold of Anhalt

Leopold Friedrich Franz Ernst von Anhalt-Dessau (* July 18, 1855 in Dessau , † February 2, 1886 in Cannes ) was Hereditary Prince of the Duchy of Anhalt .

Life

Leopold was born as the son of the future Duke Friedrich I of Anhalt and the Princess Antoinette of Saxony-Altenburg . Together with his younger brother Friedrich, he went on a study trip to Geneva , Bonn and Munich . Both brothers then joined the Prussian Army as officers and remained in active service there until 1883. Most recently, Leopold stood as captain or Rittmeister à la suite of the Anhalt Infantry Regiment No. 93 and the 1st Guard Dragoon Regiment .

In 1875 he was a corps loop bearer of the Corps Borussia Bonn .

marriage

Leopold married Princess Elisabeth von Hessen-Rumpenheim (1861–1955), daughter of the titular Landgrave Friedrich Wilhelm von Hessen-Kassel-Rumpenheim (1820–1884) and Princess Maria Anna of Prussia (1836–1918 ) at Philippsruhe Palace on May 26, 1884 ). The marriage resulted in a daughter Antoinette (1885–1963).

Hereditary Prince Leopold von Anhalt died on February 2, 1886 in Cannes.
