Leslie Law (born May 5, 1965 in Hereford ) is a British eventing rider . He is Olympic champion and three-time European champion .

In 1990 Law played his first international competitions, but it wasn't until the end of the decade that he achieved his breakthrough to the top of the world. At the European Championships in 2001 in Pau he won the gold medal with the British team. He repeated this success in 2003 in Punchestown and in 2005 in Woodstock . In 2002 he was third in the team classification at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera .

Laws greatest achievement is winning the gold medal in the individual competition at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . Before the final show jumping he was still in fifth place, but was able to improve to second place with two faultless runs. The German rider Bettina Hoy , who came first, was moved back to ninth place because she had triggered the timing too early. After the International Court of Justice confirmed the jury's decision, Law was awarded the gold medal. Hoy's relegation also had an impact on the team standings: The British team, which also included Law, received silver instead of bronze.
