The Leysand is a multi-purpose ship owned by the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation .
history
The ship was built under construction number 197 at the SET Schiffbau- u. Development company Tangermünde built. The construction contract was signed on May 12, 2016. The keel of the ship was laid on August 31, 2016, and it was launched on September 29, 2017.
The ship was christened on December 1, 2017 in Norddeich . Godmother was Anne Rickmeyer, the director of the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation.
General
The ship design is based on the Leyhörn built in 2001 . The construction costs amounted to around ten million euros.
The ship, which replaces the Janssand built in the 1950s , is stationed in Norddeich. It is used for transport duties at sea defenses construction sites in the Lower Saxony coast and the rivers Ems , Weser and Elbe used. In addition, it can be used to fight oil and pollutant accidents and is also available to the emergency command for this purpose.
The ship is named after the Leysand in the south of the Leybucht .
Technical specifications
The ship is powered by two Scania DI 13 diesel engines, each with an output of 368 kW . The motors act on two propellers via reduction gears . Two diesel generator sets with a total of 320 kVA apparent power are available for power generation. The engines are equipped with SCR catalytic converters for exhaust aftertreatment .
The ship is equipped with an electrically powered water jet propulsion system with an output of 185 kW that can be rotated through 360 ° .
The deck superstructures are located in the front area of the ship. Behind the superstructure there is a 130 m² open deck. At the stern there is a foldable stern ramp about five meters wide and twelve meters long , via which materials and machinery can be brought onto the deck. The ship is equipped with an anchor pole and a crane. The shape of the hull allows the ship to fall dry in the mudflats.
The ship has an oil collection system for use in fighting oil spills . The oil-water mixture skimmed off the surface of the water can be pumped into four tanks. The total capacity of the tanks is 130 m³. Furthermore, the ship is equipped with a ventilation system for generating an overpressure system in the superstructure so that it can operate in dangerous atmospheres. It has gas warning detectors for this purpose .
