Li Shufu ( Chinese  李書福  /  李书福 , Pinyin Lǐ Shūfú , W.-G. Li 3 Shu 1 -fu 2 , IPA li˨˩˦ ʂu˥fu˧˥ ; born  June 25, 1963 in Taizhou , Zhejiang ) is a Chinese entrepreneur , Founder and CEO of Geely , Chairman of the Board of Directors of Volvo Cars and largest single shareholder of Daimler AG .

biography

Li Shufu was born in Taizhou , east China 's Zhejiang Province , in 1963 . There he founded Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd in 1986 , the first manufacturer of refrigerator parts , which is now the second largest private automobile manufacturer in China. Li holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Harbin Polytechnic University and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Yanshan University . He is the vice chairman of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), vice chairman of the Chinese Association for Non-Governmental Education, and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference . Li is married and lives in Hangzhou , the provincial capital of Zhejiang.

In 2013, Li ranked 63rd richest person in the People's Republic of China with a net worth of $ 2.6 billion. As of February 2018, Li had assets of $ 17.4 billion.

Companies

On March 28, 2010, Geely took over Volvo Car Corporation from then-owner Ford for $ 1.8 billion. This takeover was the largest by a Chinese automobile manufacturer at the time. Soccer

The Geely Group sponsored the Guangzhou Evergrande in 2001 , which was then playing in the second highest Chinese soccer league, the Jia-B League . After allegations of manipulation, Li Shufu left the soccer business and was quoted as saying: “We won't come back until Chinese football environment turns better.” (“We will not return until the framework conditions in Chinese football change for the better.”)
