action

The former architect Hannah Held has been married to her husband, the dentist Martin Held, for 27 years. After she found out that Martin was cheating on her with his practical help Annika, she announced that she was going to divorce him. But the whole thing is not that easy, especially because of their two children Lola and Paul. In addition, Aunt Kathe wants to withdraw into private life and use Hannah as her heir. While she was moving in with her childhood sweetheart Franz Todsen, the family seat should finally be filled with life again. For better or worse, the four move into the villa. In order not to jeopardize the inheritance that your aunt only wants to give to a happy family, play a farce for the aunt , because Hannah is aware of the responsibility for maintaining the family's traditions. Despite her disappointment over her husband's infidelity, she and her law-studying daughter draw up a “marriage contract”. Among other things, this regulates the separation of table and bed in the shared new house, so that an invisible wall divides the venerable villa in two halves. Outwardly, the two give the happily married couple. In private life, however, the “Ice Age” continues to rule. Martin has to learn painfully what it means to take care of himself, because no one buys, cooks, washes or cleans for him. He realizes contrite that old love may not be so rusty after all. Hannah, on the other hand, is learning to love her newfound freedom and is thinking of returning to her professional life. She enjoys the fact that an old friend is courting her. In Paul's love affair, on the other hand, the crisis begins.

The comedy threatens to be exposed when Aunt Käthe comes to visit for a few days, unannounced. The house has to be prepared in no time so that she does not notice the separation. Martin has to vacate the guest room for his aunt and plans to spend the night in the shared bedroom. At breakfast in the morning they act as the "perfect family". Little did they know that the clever and forward-looking heir-aunt has long since caught up with them. Her career plans change for Hannah when she learns that she will soon have a grandchild to care for. She doesn't want to leave Lola alone now and support her so that she can finish her studies despite having a child. She is also planning to convert the villa so that it offers living space for several families. But she made this plan on her own, and Lola is not convinced that her mother will shape her future. The son Paul is also thinking of going abroad for a year immediately after graduating from high school. Hannah is horrified and thinks she is no longer needed. She leaves the villa bitter and now goes to Berlin for a lucrative job offer.

After a year, Hannah and Martin meet before the divorce judge. While the two lawyers argue about whether or not the year of separation was honored, Hannah and Martin realize that they are still in love. They secretly leave the courtroom and make up.

reception

The lexicon of international films judged the film to be an "undemanding (television) family comedy about a tangible war of the roses, which leads to a hardly surprising happy ending". TV Spielfilm wrote: "Softened posse according to an old recipe."

Kino.de judged: “'Tatort' commissioner Sabine Postel and her husband of the gods, Florian Martens, are even surpassed in this North German 'War of the Roses' variant by the supporting actors who enjoy playing.” “Unfortunately, crab pods, fishing cutters and a visit to a Werder Bremen work well -Game too fake to really give depth to the local color. Bremen and the surrounding area actually have more to offer in terms of locations and 'Heimat' stories. "
