Liliane Montevecchi

Liliane Montevecchi (born October 13, 1932 in Paris - † June 29, 2018 in New York City ) was a French actress , dancer and singer .

Life

Montevecchi had been practicing ballet since she was nine and became a prima ballerina in Roland Petit's ballet company at the age of 18 . A few years later she signed a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and took part in the 1955 dance films The Glass Slipper and Daddy Langbein , in which her compatriot Leslie Caron played the leading female role. She then starred alongside Jerry Lewis in The Regiment Idiot , with Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift in The Young Lions and with Elvis Presley in My Life Is The Rhythm . However, in all of these films she never got beyond a minor supporting role, but later appeared on the cover photo of the film DVD Mein Leben ist der Rhythm together with Elvis Presley . After another film appearance in Jakobowsky und der Oberst, she worked in various television series, such as 77 Sunset Strip , in the following years , before she withdrew from the film business for a certain time in the early 1960s and instead preferred the Ensemble of the Folies Bergère to perform. She later hit Broadway and won both a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award for her role in the musical Nine .

But she kept coming back in front of the camera sporadically and played a small supporting role alongside Charlie Sheen and Michael Douglas in Wall Street in 1987 and 15 years later in The Idol and How do I get rid of him - in 10 days? .

She also acted as a singer in the single show On The Boulevard in 1988 and a few years later in the thematic sequel Back On The Boulevard . In between, she played the role of the aging ballerina Elizaveta Grushinskaya in the musical Grand Hotel for more than two years . Since the late 1990s she has appeared regularly as a conférencière in the Tigerpalast variety theater in Frankfurt am Main .
