The Lis is a recreational and regatta dinghy that has been built by Gade Bootsbau Kunststofftechnik GmbH in Aachen since 1966.

The name Lis is derived from the reverse of the nickname Sil. Since there was already a Sil dinghy, it became Lis. So far over 1600 boats have been sold.

variants

There are three versions of the Lis : The basic model is the Lis dinghy , which has a flat foredeck with a low slip cabin. In the Lis dinghy cruiser , a small cabin (1.10 m high with a table or a bed for 2 people) was placed on the otherwise identical dinghy hull. In the Lis Family , the hull was widened by 13 cm, the cabin was slightly enlarged (approx. 20 cm in length and width) and the side wall was also raised and designed as a coaming edge .

construction

The fuselage is a round frame construction made of GRP and is manufactured using the hand lay-up process. In the side pods there are foam polystyrene floats that make the boat unsinkable . The Lis has been manufactured with a double bottom, self-draining cockpit and GRP sword since 1972 ; older models have either a wooden sword or an iron ballast sword. The sword case only protrudes minimally over the double floor, which means that the cockpit floor is almost even.

Rig

The rig is the same for all three variants. As is usual with dinghies of this size, it is a 7/8 pitch rig without a backstay . The large tree is raised high, which means there is plenty of headroom.

properties

The Lis picks up speed quickly in light winds and starts to glide in wind force 4 to 5 . It is usually sailed in pairs, but can also be sailed one-handed (with an extended tiller arm, also in a trapeze ).

A class association has existed since 1969, the Lis class is an association class recognized by the DSV . Different yardstick numbers are published for the dinghy and the dinghy cruiser .

Areas with larger Lis fleets are the Adolfosee , the Baldeneysee , the Halterner Stausee , the Langener Waldsee , the Möhnesee , the Unterbacher See and the Rursee .
