List of Munich forest areas
This page lists forest areas that are located in the area of the Bavarian state capital Munich or are owned by the city.
overview
Forests only make up a relatively small part of the area of Munich's urban area, but they have an important function as "green lungs" in the city and as recreational areas. Due to the inclination of the Munich gravel plain and the therefore very different groundwater depths , there are different types of forest, including deciduous forests , riparian forests , oak-hornbeam forests , fens and the Leiten forests on the slopes of the Isar high banks.
