( Location ) | Ensemble hostel district | The socially-historically significant hostel district along Eggerstrasse and Dingolfinger Strasse is outside the old market town and its former fortifications in the Vils valley, in an area where an old, eponymous Eckher noble seat still existed in the 18th century. Mainly day laborers lived here, but also craftsmen who found their work in agriculture and in the market town. The irregularly grouped residential buildings crowd close together in the west, but loosen up to the east. The mostly two-story houses with flat gable roofs are likely to date mainly from the end of the 18th century / beginning of the 19th century. In many cases, they still show their block construction and thus document the original wooden structure for the site. Typical hostels are semi-detached houses. In the mostly horizontally owned buildings, an outside staircase with the shot forms the access to the upper residential unit and thus particularly clearly reflects the legal situation. This type of settlement with houses that are largely plastered today, but which still have a lot of block structure, is likely to have been widespread, as the almost lost Munich hostel districts also refer to. However, it is hardly preserved elsewhere. As a result, the hostel district of Frontenhausen is one of the outstanding architectural and socio-historically defined historical residential areas of the workers and craftsmen. | E-2-79-115-1
( Location ) | Ensemble Marienplatz | The history of the 8./9. Century at a transition over the large Vils founded settlement is primarily linked with the bishops of Regensburg as the dukes of Bavaria. In 1226 Frontenhausen fell to the Regensburg Monastery, while the county rights were passed to the Dukes of Bavaria. But in 1386 the place had to be sold by Bishop Johann von der Regensburg to the Wittelsbacher; in the same year the place received market rights. This is indicated by Marienplatz as a market square, which with its rare square floor plan has remained a monument to this history of law and rule. From the market fortification built between 1418 and 1424 with formerly three gates, the last one demolished in 1903, no traces of the townscape have been preserved. The three numbers of the gates and their names refer to the traffic situation on the Vilstalstraße running to the right of the river, which forms the southern bypass of the square and sends a junction to the north in the direction of Dingolfing, which leaves the square at the northeast corner. This Dingolfinger Straße like its counterpart on the north-west corner, the Kirchgasse, has only a narrow passage width, which contributes to the closed nature of the square. The place was particularly affected by fires in 1536 and 1779, so that nothing of the original wooden construction has been preserved in the market itself. Some of the existing buildings go back to the 18th century and are mostly two-story, with the older buildings facing the square on the gable side. On the west side, the pharmacy and town hall from 1737 form a closed square facade with their shared, eaves-side hipped roof; on the north side, the lively front with sloping gable houses is dominated by the parish church. This development also acted as the boundary of the churchyard. The late Gothic parish church, slightly elevated behind it, is clearly part of the square. The connection between the secular market and local Christian history is also represented by the Marian column from 1874, which reminds of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception from 1854, even if in a modern setting. | E-2-79-115-2

- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
