Lime kilns | Dörenthe Riesenbecker Straße 64 map |
Shaft furnaces (on the photo on the left in the background) of the former Breckweg lime works . The associated quarry and the lime mining facility originally belonged to B. Loismann, who in 1933 leased the operating facilities with, among other things, 4 hopper furnaces to the Breckweg brothers from Rheine . As part of a modernization, they expanded the furnaces by a 3 m wide and 8 m high brick-built shaft furnace. In 1935 the old funnel kilns were demolished and another shaft kiln of the same size was built, followed by another by 1955. In 1955 a fourth shaft furnace was built and the three older ones were increased by 5 m at the same time. These ovens were decommissioned when a high-performance kiln started work in 1969/70, but was demolished in 1982 because of the high energy costs. The old shaft furnaces served as silos. | from 1933 | 07/12/1987 | A 081
