Arget

Arget town center ensemble

File number: E-1-84-141-1

Parish Church of Arget

The rural street village characteristic of the foothills of the Alps lies in a cleared island. In 1812 it consisted of 38 properties. For centuries, the upper owners were among others the monasteries Tegernsee, Dietramszell, Schäftlarn and the Hofmarken Grünwald and Taufkirchen.

The loose development by peasant estates largely follows the curved course of the old thoroughfare from Munich to Tegernsee, which as such lost its old function in the 18th century with the construction of the new road to the east of the town. This part of the settlement, the Niederdorf, bears the old name Niederham. The shorter street (Oberham) running across the northern part of the village leads west to the parish church of St. Michael located far outside the village. The street only belongs to the ensemble in its historically built-up area up to property no. 25 and no. the modernly built eastern section creates the connection to the Chaussee (federal road) and only belongs to the ensemble with the old properties no. 7 and 10.

The farmsteads are of high medieval origin. The traditional east-facing of the Einfirsthöfe, between which small farmers and Sölden houses are interspersed in the center of the town, result in gable positions of the residential areas of the courtyards, partly gable positions of their commercial areas, partly eaves positions along the entire length of the building. The individual courtyards are of medium size, the old stock consists of block and plastered buildings from the 17th to the early 19th century with the usual flat gable roof of the Oberland. The former rectory, a solid building from the 17th century, is particularly notable for its size and floor bay. Two of the three earlier village ponds have been preserved; the Bäckerlack and the Pfeiferlack.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The monument property - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the monument atlas or the entry in the Bavarian monument list. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
