The pilgrimage church of St. Martin was built in Romanesque style by the Einsiedeln monastery in 1200. In 2016, for 400 years, a procession of lights has been held on the evening before the Ascension of Christ to remind us that the statue of Our Lady is said to have wept in the pilgrimage church. The event is known as the Endinger tear miracle and is documented in the "Zeitungslied von Freiburg" from 1616 and other sources, but these differ slightly in terms of date. |
