List of cultural monuments in Meiningen

The list of cultural monuments in Meiningen includes the monuments of the southern Thuringian district town of Meiningen .

A total of around 240 individual monuments , 16 monument ensembles , seven ground monuments and three garden monuments are currently registered in Meiningen (status: February 2010). Most of the listed cultural monuments are villas and villa-like apartment buildings, which are located in the villa districts around the city center that were built between 1870 and 1920. It should be emphasized that the villa districts and thus a large part of the buildings listed here were mainly built by the architects Eduard Fritze , Carl Göbel , Karl Behlert and Theodor Krech , who were also active at the same time . The architects divided up the building areas among themselves and thus ensured a harmonious cityscape in terms of urban planning.

The registration of all monuments in the list of monuments of the Lower Monument Protection Authority in Meiningen has not yet been completed. The list does not claim to be complete. In addition, possible cultural monuments in the districts of Henneberg , Stepfershausen , Wallbach and Walldorf, which were incorporated in 2019 , are not (yet) recorded.
