List of cultural monuments in Meiningen city center
The list of cultural monuments in the Meiningen city center includes the cultural and architectural monuments in the city center of the district town of Meiningen in southern Thuringia , with the exception of the historic old town . The city center comprises the districts around the Englischer Garten, the Neu-Ulmer-Straße street and the Pulverrasen and Mittlerer Rasen districts west of the old town on the Werra .
Altogether around 270 cultural monuments are currently registered in Meiningen, which are distributed over 240 individual monuments , 16 monument ensembles , 7 ground monuments and 3 garden monuments (status: February 2010). Of these, there are 60 individual monuments, 4 monument ensembles and 2 garden monuments in the city center without the old town and parks. Most of the listed cultural monuments date from the 19th and early 20th centuries during the heyday of Meiningen as a capital and residence. The registration of all monuments in the list of monuments of the Lower Monument Protection Authority in Meiningen has not yet been completed. The list does not claim to be complete.
