List of cultural assets in Gals

The list of cultural assets in Gals contains all objects in the municipality of Gals in the canton of Bern that are subject to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict , the Federal Act of June 20, 2014 on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflicts and the Ordinance of 29 June 2014 October 2014 on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict .

Objects in categories A and B are completely included in the list, objects in category C are currently missing (as of January 1, 2018). Among other monuments protected objects are found, the "worthy of protection" in the canton of Bern Bauinventar than are listed.

Manor house, built around 1600 and rebuilt between 1834 and 1836, of great historical and architectural importance. Four-storey plastered building in the post-Gothic style under a bent quarter- hipped roof . A classicistic wooden veranda is built on the north side and a neo-Gothic turret on the east side . Inside, high quality equipment ( coffered ceilings , tiled stoves , floors).

Benedictine monastery founded at the end of the 11th century, almost completely renovated around 1400 and secularized during the Reformation . The convent church, in danger of collapsing, was demolished in 1961 and rebuilt on a new pile foundation in 1970/71. Next to it are the administrative building of the Landvogtei, built in 1729/30, and the convent building, which dates back to the 12th century.

Moated castle on the Zihl Canal, built around 1270 by order of the Counts of Neuchâtel and largely rebuilt in the first quarter of the 14th century . Well-fortified, representative complex with a palas and circular wall around a trapezoidal courtyard. The outside of the Palas has largely retained its medieval character with the striking tower towers from the 15th century and the meticulous brickwork .
