List of stumbling blocks in Emmerich am Rhein
In the list of the stumbling blocks in Emmerich am Rhein , the 99 will Emmerich am Rhein existing stumbling blocks listed in the framework of the project pitfalls of the artist Gunter Demnig have been laid in memory of persecuted or murdered victims of National Socialism on several dates.
The laying of the first stone in Emmerich for Eugen Mehler and another 23 stones on February 25, 2011 as well as the laying on February 8, 2012 was carried out by the artist himself.
With the express permission of the artist, the other relocations were carried out in several actions by various Emmerich schools and educational institutions on their own. These included students from the Hanse Realschule, the Grunewald Support Center, the Luitgardis Elementary School in Elten and from trainees from the Theodor Brewery House and the Kolping workshop. The stumbling blocks were polished up again in 2015 by students from the Emmericher comprehensive school and the secondary school.
At the old market in Emmerich there is an overview board with the stumbling blocks laid in Emmerich.
Students from the Willibrord grammar school have created an audio guide to ten points in the city that are important for the Emmerich stumbling blocks.
The Stolpersteine project in Emmerich was initiated by the Pro Kultur Emmerich citizens' campaign and supported by the city of Emmerich, the Stadtsparkasse Emmerich-Rees, the Stadtwerke Emmerich and two foundations administered by the city of Emmerich (Rudolf W. Stahr Foundation and the United Hoppen and Hompheus Foundation ).
