The list of stumbling blocks in Straelen contains all the stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Straelen as part of the project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Straelen.

Emanuel Hoffstadt was born on May 5, 1864 in Kaldenkirchen as the son of Samuel Hoffstadt, a trader in Kaldenkirchen, and Sibilla Hoffstadt, née Strauss. He married on November 25, 1905Amalia Neu, their son Siegfried (* 1908) emerged from the marriage. Emanuel was to be deported from Düsseldorf to Theresienstadt on July 25, 1942 , but died a week earlier (on July 16, 1942 in Straelen) and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Geldern . | |

Oskar Mendel was born on September 25, 1876 as the son of Leopold Mendel (* 1843 in Kempen ) and his wife Julia Mendel, née Löbschen (* July 29, 1849, † October 18, 1931) in Straelen, who came from Sonsbeck . Oskar had six siblings, known are: Eduard (* January 17, 1875) , Friedrich (* August 27, 1888) and Johanna (* May 24, 1893). He married Sophia Meyer (* March 2nd, 1881) and the marriage had three children: Hans (* 1912) , Ilse (* 1914) and Edith (* March 25, 1921) . Oskar was deported to the Riga ghetto on December 11, 1941 - together with his wife and daughter Edith - and murdered there. | |

Josef Sanders was born on February 23, 1867 in Kaldenkirchen as the son of Salomon Sanders, a trader in Kaldenkirchen, and Adelheid Vasen. He married Johanna Abraham on July 29, 1896 in Schermbeck . Joseph and Johanna Sanders were deported from Düsseldorf to Theresienstadt on July 25, 1942 (Transport VII / 2 Zug Da 71, prisoner numbers 851 and 852), on September 21, 1942 to Treblinka (Transport Bp, prisoner numbers 1330 and 1331), and there probably immediately murdered on arrival. Their son was Fred Sanders, who was born on November 3, 1897. He survived the Holocaust, lived in Sheboygan / Wisconsin in 1972 , where he died in June 1981. | |
