Paul Steeg was born on May 6, 1874 in Bochum . Since 1905 he was based in Ohligs, since 1909 as the owner of a toy store with 12 assistants (1930). He gave up his business in 1933. Between 1931 and 1937 he was deputy representative and later deputy head of the synagogue community in Solingen. During the night of the pogrom in November 1938, his apartment was ransacked and he and his wife were not allowed to enter it again. The couple then fled to Cologne, where Paul Steeg died in the Jewish asylum on November 11, 1938. |

On August 26, 1942, he was deported from Drancy to Auschwitz concentration camp , where no records exist about him. He was pronounced dead on May 8, 1945. |

Julia Julie Coopmann was born on March 23, 1882 in Linnich, moved to her brother David in Solingen-Ohligs in the turmoil of war in 1916 to work as a saleswoman in his men's clothing store. After David's death on October 12, 1937, the business was closed and Julie moved to Neumarkt 25, Cologne , in 1938. On October 30, 1941, she was deported to the Litzmannstadt ( Łódź ) ghetto and died there on June 6, 1942. Another stumbling block has been set in Cologne . |
