Friederike Blondine Strauss was born on January 9, 1876 in Blieskastel . She was married to her husband Hermann (1874–1922) since 1909 and together they ran a haberdashery shop at Hochstrasse 5 (from 1935 Schlageterstrasse and today: Am Neumarkt 5). Ordered by the Housing Office, she had to move to the Judenhaus in Pfaffenberger Weg 190 in June 1939 . In 1941 she was deported to Łódź . She died on November 16, 1941 shortly after being admitted to the difficult living conditions. A brass plate on the grave of Herrmann Strauss at the Solingen Jewish cemetery commemorates her. | |

Artur Deichmann was born on February 14, 1900 in Solingen. He was active for the KPD at an early age and was therefore taken into protective custody and imprisoned in Solingen, the Anrath prison and in the Börgermoor and Esterwegen concentration camps. He was called up to serve in the Air Force in April 1941. On suspicion of continuing to be active, he was later imprisoned again in Solingen, Barmen and Düsseldorf and released again for lack of evidence. On the basis of his statement "The war is lost, Hitler knows that too.", Which he made in a small circle, he was denounced, arrested on December 23, 1943 and on March 14, 1944 to 12 years in prison but on June 26, 1944 Sentenced to death by an air force field court. The judgment was carried out on September 14, 1944 at 7:00 a.m. in Bremen Osterholz. | |

Heinrich Schroth was born on November 3, 1902 in Ohligs, Solingen district. After attending elementary school and completing a manufacturing apprenticeship, he later worked as a self-employed manufacturer. Until 1933 he was a member of the Socialist Workers 'Youth and the Socialist Workers' Party of Germany and was arrested several times and sent to the Kemna concentration camp , where he was severely ill-treated and suffered permanent health problems. In May 1934 he was sentenced to one year and seven months in prison by the 1st Criminal Senate of the Hamm Higher Regional Court for “preparation for high treason”. In April 1934 he was released again. From 1945 he worked for the SPD in education policy as a councilor for the city of Solingen. In August 1953, Chancellor Konrad Adenauer accused him of having accepted 10,000 marks from the SED . Adenauer later withdrew this accusation and Schroth was elected to the state parliament. After his death on September 13, 1957, he was buried in the city cemetery in Gräfrath . | |

Paula Gompertz was born on December 3, 1884 in Emmerich am Rhein and lived in Geldern , Wuppertal and Solingen. In 1912 she married Alex Weissfeldt, who had been running the Gebr. Weissfeldt men's clothing store at Kaiserstraße 157 (today: Hauptstraße 43) - together with his brother Adolf - since 1900. In 1913 the son Lothar was born. Adolf fell in the First World War in 1915 . In 1937 Alex, representative of the synagogue community in Solingen, died in Cologne. After the death of the two owners, Paula Weissfeldt became the sole owner of the "Gebrüder Weissfeldt" company, but had to hand over the company to the managing director on October 1, 1938. On November 8, 1938, Paula moved to Düsseldorfer Straße 46, the house of her brother who had been deported to Poland, and in May 1939 to Düsseldorfer Straße 17. In August 1939 she moved to the Judenhaus at Malteserstraße 23. On the first collective transport on October 26, 1941, she was deported to the Litzmannstadt (Łódź) ghetto, then deported to the Chelmno extermination camp on May 6, 1942 and gassed there on May 7, 1942. | |

In 1939 he moved to Oststraße 19 and in 1942 to the Judenhaus Wupperstraße 23. Shortly afterwards he was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp (Transport VII / 1, č. 560, July 22, 1942 Düsseldorf -> Terezín), where he was on February 7, 1943 died of old age according to the death report. | |

Antonia Grünhut b. Krauss was born on June 19, 1884 in Solingen . Her parents were Marianne Krauss, geb. Tobak (November 30, 1850 in Zevenaar - February 26, 1926 in Düsseldorf) and Philipp Krauss (June 18, 1846 in Jászlocz - June 11, 1913 in Solingen). She had a brother, Bernhard, and three sisters, Regina, Betty and Erna, of whom only Erna survived the Nazi regime. On March 4, 1913, Antonia married Moritz Grünhut, who came from Vienna, and moved a little later, on March 30, 1913, to live with her husband in Vienna. After the annexation of Austria to the so-called Third Reich she had with her husband, longtime resident left and came to a collective apartment in the Lilienbrunngasse 5/8 in the Leopoldstadt . On February 6, 1942, the couple were deported on an eight-day trip to Riga, where both were murdered by the Nazi regime.
A memorial stone was also laid for Antonia Grünhut in Vienna-Währing . The couple Antonia and Moritz Grünhut must have had at least one child who escaped the Nazi regime in time, as two granddaughters, Zehava Shlam and Gadi Grunhut, were present at the opening of the Vienna Memorial Stone. |
