List of participants in the FIFA Confederations Cup

This list includes all national football teams that have taken part in the FIFA Confederations Cup , including the previous tournaments held as the King Fahd Cup in 1992 and 1995. The teams are arranged according to continental associations. So far, 33 different national teams from all six continental football associations (as of 2017) have taken part in the FIFA Confederations Cup. Brazil and Mexico are record participants with seven participations, followed by Japan with five participations.

Qualification criteria, if not exclusively continental champions:

³ Continental runner-up

^4th Vice European champion because Germany decided not to participate

⁵ World Champion

^6th Vice world champion because France decided not to participate

^7th Defending champion

^8th World and continental champions

⁹World Cup third. Since European champions France had already qualified as hosts, the vacant place went to vice European champions Italy, who, however, waived. Because no third place was played out at the European Championship, FIFA awarded the free place to runner-up world champions Germany. Germany also decided not to participate, and Turkey, third in the World Cup, moved up.
