VT 08 VT 08 The "world championship train" VT 08 is a historic diesel multiple unit. When the German team won the soccer world championship in 1954, the DB provided them with a special train of the VT 08 series (VT = combustion railcar) for the return journey. This was one of their most modern vehicles at the time and was procured in 1952/1953. The series was used until 1985.
