Signage

BLIK information board for cultural monuments: Here for the Gerloff Villa on Löwenwall .

The cultural monuments in Braunschweig are identified and signposted using the Braunschweig guidance and information system BLIK . There are two forms of information signs for cultural monuments: Object signs represent individual buildings and ensemble signs represent groups of buildings or groups of cultural monuments. The BLIK signs provide information about interesting facts, the history and special significance of architectural monuments and have illustrations.

This signage system has a uniform appearance. They have a square design and are in the international cultural information color brown, which makes them highly recognizable for those interested in culture and tourists. The BLIK signs for cultural monuments are symbolized with a symbol based on the mark of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property .

The BLIK was developed in 1995 by Heiner Erke from the TU Braunschweig and Claudia Albrecht together with the city of Braunschweig. Since then, the number of signs has been systematically expanded; in 2008 there were already more than 100 signs.

Memorial plaque

With the amendment of the Lower Saxony Monument Protection Act in 2011, owners can now also mark their architectural and ground monuments with a monument protection sticker, but they are hardly widespread in Braunschweig so far.

Monument lists

The lists are sorted by city district and, if available, include images, the names, the address with a link to the location on the city map, descriptions, the construction dates, the date of registration as a cultural monument and the monument number. The lists mostly show the cultural monuments made accessible by the Braunschweig guidance and information system BLIK and do not claim to be complete.
