List of natural monuments in Braunschweig

This list contains the natural monuments that are located in Braunschweig . So far, a total of 33 objects have been designated as natural monuments in Braunschweig. Five of these objects are no longer available today. When it comes to natural monuments, a distinction is made between two-dimensional and linear objects and individual objects.

ND-BS3		Bald cypress (Taxodium distichum)	At the Löwenwall	In 2014 the tree had a height of 26 meters, a trunk circumference of 408 cm and a crown diameter of 15 meters. Protected since 1959.
ND-BS4		Bald cypress (Taxodium distichum)	Kiryat Tivon Park (no longer available today)	The bald cypress was on the north bank of the pond in Kiryat Tivon Park. Due to rotten spots in the root area, the natural monument was cleared for felling and felled on December 17, 2014. In 2014 the tree had a height of 27 meters, a trunk circumference of 390 cm and a crown diameter of 16 meters.

ND-BS13		Jödebrunnen	At the Weststadt	Stone-enclosed water basin with wooden pipeline to the Altstadtmarktbrunnen since 1345, natural, architectural and cultural monument since 2010. Protected since 1959.
ND-BS14		Pool	West Park	Since 1959, the uppermost pond has been a natural monument as a spring pond with restricted bathing permission.
ND-BS15		Old Landwehr	At Veltenhof	Protected since 1959.
ND-BS16		Swedish pulpit	At Veltenhof	Veltenhof local cemetery. Protected since 1959.
ND-BS17		Jump	At Mascherode	Bubbling spring pond. 1977 designated as a natural monument.
ND-BS18		Sycamore maple	Traunstrasse, Weststadt	1977 designated as a natural monument.
ND-BS19		Chestnut (2 chestnuts)	Bolkenhainstrasse, Melverode	1977 designated as a natural monument. After one of the chestnuts suffered windbreak damage in the 1990s, it did not recover and was removed from the list in 2005 because it no longer met the criteria of a natural monument.
ND-BS20		Brick pond	Across	1978 designated as a natural monument.
ND-BS21		English oak	on the former railway line southeast of the Gieseberg near Dibbesdorf	1959 designated as a natural monument by the district of Braunschweig.
ND-BS22		Fuhse Canal	Between Weststadt / Broitzem and Stiddien	Designated as a natural monument in 1982.
ND-BS23		Small spring moor and meandering, periodic stream	Querumer Forst, north of Querum	The small spring moor, together with a meandering, periodic stream, is designated as a natural monument. The protection purpose is the preservation and undisturbed further development of the ecologically valuable moor to the moor birch-alder- break forest as well as the preservation of a rare angular harrow -alder border. Protected since 1987.
ND-BS24		Lean sand lawn around the Schlossberg	North of Kralenriede	Preservation of the sandy grassland, shielded by oak forest, with herbaceous edges of the Schlossberg for the rare plant communities present there, protected since 1987.
ND-BS25		Bull pond	North of the Siegfriedviertel near Dowesee	Further development of the moor lake and its peripheral areas as a habitat for rare animal and plant species. Protected since 1987.
ND-BS26		Sinkholes oil per wood	Ölper Holz near Lehndorf	Preservation of sinkholes and marshes with stocks of swamp fern and water feather, protected since 1987.
ND-BS27		Kreissberg	Bürgerpark	Preservation of valuable sub-Mediterranean, warmth-loving fringing vegetation adapted to partial shade conditions, protected since 1987.
ND-BS28		Stream meander	In the Buchhorst	Preservation of the geomorphologically peculiar appearance of the stream with vegetation accompanying the banks in a width of 5 m on both sides of the stream, protected since 1987.
ND-BS29		Landwehr in Rautheimer Holz	At Mascherode	Preservation of the vegetation-valuable ramparts with rare orchid occurrences, protected since 1987.
ND-BS30		Winter horsetail-oak-hornbeam forest	At Stöckheim	Part of the Stöckheim Forest, protected since 1987.
ND-BS31		Talmoor	In Dibbesdorf	Part of the Dibbesdorfer wood. Securing the undisturbed further development of the ecologically valuable valley moor and its peripheral areas, protected since 1987.
ND-BS32		Monastery wall of the Riddagshausen monastery	Riddagshausen	Preservation of the rare wall vegetation with rue, dyer's chamomile, nodding thistle, real dog's tongue and yellow lark spur, protected since 1987.
ND-BS33		Oak	Mascherode	Peace oak, protected since 1987.
