List of natural monuments in the Lüneburg district
The list of natural monuments in the Lüneburg district contains the natural monuments in the Lüneburg district in Lower Saxony .
On December 31, 2016, according to the statistics of the Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation in the Lüneburg district, there were a total of 33 natural monuments outside Zone C (specially protected area) of the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve .

Only the torso of the once mighty oak remains. In 1989 the tree was already "in a worrying bad condition: strong main branches are rotten or broken, knotholes are rotten, at 15 m high and 1 m wide the trunk has no bark, this area is infested with fungi and insects, the entire crown area shows Peak drought on. The Iron Gate, also known as the “Gate to the Underworld”, is a building and ground monument because it documents the geological situation in Lüneburg and is therefore significant in terms of the history of the city. As a result of the effects of horizontal earth movement caused by the leaching of a salt dome underground, the two wings of the gate, which was built in 1898, were shifted towards each other and on top of each other, whereby the pillars moved along without falling over.
