Dibbesdorf is a district of Braunschweig and part of the city district 114 - Volkmarode on the northeastern outskirts and has around 1,400 inhabitants.

geography

Dibbesdorf is located on the Sandbach and the Schunter , a tributary of the Oker , and is located south of the Autobahn 2 from Hanover to Berlin . Neighboring towns are the Braunschweig districts of Hondelage in the north, Querum in the west and Volkmarode in the south-west and the Wendhausen district in the north-east, which is part of the apprenticeship . To the west of Dibbesdorf, in the renatured Schunter lowland, lies the Borwall . Dibbesdorfer Holz is to the east of the village.

history

Foundling for the 775th anniversary of Dibbesdorf

The first core of the settlement, which is mentioned for the first time in 1226 as "Thitbechtestorp", was close to the then fish-rich Schunter. The village belonged to the property of the Counts of Wernigerode until the village, together with the property of all farms, was acquired by the Riddagshausen monastery in 1260 .

In 1325 a farmyard ( grangie ) was built there for the Cistercian monastery . In 1865 a major fire destroyed almost all of the town's buildings. The subsequent almost simultaneous reconstruction still ensures a largely uniform appearance of the old village center around the market square and Lüddeweg.

In the 1950s, the “Am Holzwinkel” development area was built in the immediate vicinity of the village center. In the 1960s, the "Kleiner Mooranger" building area was developed near the former train station. Both districts were thus about 700 m apart. This gap was closed in the 1980s with the last new development area "Hühnerkamp". Since the dissolution of the district of Braunschweig in the course of the regional reform in 1974, Dibbesdorf has been incorporated into Braunschweig. In 2001 the 775th anniversary of the town was celebrated.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Braunschweig – Calvörde postal route ran via Dibbesdorf . The Schuntertal Railway ran north past Dibbesdorf until it ceased operations in 1998 and had a stop at the northeast end of the village until 1975.

Infrastructure

As one of the smaller districts of Braunschweig, Dibbesdorf still has a comparatively good infrastructure.

traffic

Dibbesdorf is around eight kilometers from the city center of Braunschweig and is connected to it via the L 295 . Dibbesdorf can be reached by public transport via bus line 417 from Braunschweiger Verkehrs-GmbH and line 230 from Wolfsburger Verkehrs GmbH .

retail trade

The old village school (current parish hall) of Dibbesdorf

The place has had its own local supplier again since the 1990s , after the Brockow grocery store (Am Markt 4) was closed years earlier. There is also a tree nursery , a farm shop and several small service providers in Dibbesdorf.

Public facilities

Dibbesdorf belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Thomas in Volkmarode and does not have its own church, but instead has a parish hall on Alte Schulstrasse, which used to house the village school . The local library is also located in the same building . There is also a branch of the Hondelage daycare center in the village .

Club life

There are several clubs in town. The clubs with the largest number of members are the SKG (sports and cultural community) Dibbesdorf, the volunteer fire brigade and the Landwehr comradeship . From 1960 to 2012 the Dibbesdorfer Volksfest took place every year.

Personalities

coat of arms

WappenDibbesdorf.svg

In the course of the incorporation, Arnold Rabbow designed a coat of arms for the place, which was adopted on February 7, 1980 by the local councilor Volkmarode , whose area of responsibility Dibbesdorf still belongs to today.

It shows a silver trout on a green sign below a red and white nested bar. The trout comes from the coat of arms of the Counts of Wernigerode , while the checkered bar was taken from the monastery coat of arms of the Cistercians. The green base color indicates the agricultural activity of the residents of the village, which is a fundamental economic factor for them.
