List of German ambassadors in Syria
The list of German ambassadors in Syria contains the consuls, consuls general and ambassadors of the German Reich and the Federal Republic of Germany in Syria . The embassy is based in Damascus . As a result of the civil war in Syria , the embassy will remain closed until further notice.
history
From 1927 to 1939 the heads of the diplomatic mission of the German Reich in Damascus were also regularly accredited by the government in Beirut . Government relations have traditionally been close. At the beginning of 1954, Konrad Adenauer sent Alois Brunner to Damascus equipped with the papers of Georg Franz Fischer from his Bonn security group. With Brunner's technical advice, the Syrian government developed explosives into a form of policy.
