This list shows the administrative breakdown of Wales and the corresponding percentage of the population with knowledge of Welsh in Wales according to the 2011 Census of Great Britain . Welsh speakers outside Wales were not included.
The census divides knowledge as follows:
- understands Welsh (no other skills)
- speaks Welsh but cannot write or read Welsh
- speaks and reads Welsh but cannot write Welsh
- speaks, reads and writes Welsh
- other combination of language skills
- no knowledge of Welsh
In this table all possible answers have been combined except for "no knowledge of Welsh"
