Yevgeny Bareev was the only Canadian player to achieve an Elo rating of over 2700 .

The list of Canadian chess players contains chess players who are or were eligible to play for the Canadian Chess Federation and who meet at least one of the following conditions:

General

In local chess, 13 grandmasters, 38 international masters, three women's grandmasters and 13 international women's champions are eligible to play for the Canadian Chess Federation. One grandmaster and one international women's champion are no longer eligible to play for the Canadian Chess Federation, two grandmasters and one international women's champion have already passed away. An International Master is only eligible to play for the Canadian Federation in correspondence chess.

In correspondence chess, 6 Canadian players have earned the title of Grand Master, 13 that of an Honored International Master and 15 that of an International Master. Of these, three Merited International Masters and five International Masters have already passed away. The Canadian Individual Championships were played 83 times, the Canadian Women's Championship 16 times. Record champions are Maurice Fox and Daniel Abraham Yanofsky with eight titles each, while Nava Starr won the women's competition with eight titles the most.
