biography

Liu made his World Cup debut on February 15, 2004 in Harbin , where he finished 15th. Almost a year later, the first top 10 placement followed. At the 2006 Winter Olympics , he jumped to 18th place. In the 2006/07 season he could not qualify for the World Championships, but was third at the 2007 Asian Winter Games in Changchun . On January 30, 2009 Liu achieved second place in Deer Valley for the first time a podium finish in the World Cup. Three weeks later he won the silver medal at the Winter Universiade in Yabuli . In the 2009/10 World Cup season , he achieved another podium finish. He won the bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics .

While the 2010/11 World Cup season was rather moderate, Liu won a silver medal at the 2011 Asian Winter Games in Almaty . With a second and two third places he finished fifth in the Aerials discipline in the 2011/12 World Cup season . Another podium was added in the 2012/13 World Cup season . Liu achieved his first World Cup victory on December 15, 2013 in Beida Lake . A month later, he also won the World Cup competition in Val Saint-Côme and shortly afterwards came second in Lake Placid , winning the Aerials discipline ranking of the 2013/14 season . However, the 2014 Winter Olympics were disappointing for him , where he only finished 21st.

Liu was absent from the 2014/15 season and made an initially unsuccessful comeback in December 2015. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he was able to establish himself at the top of the world again with a second place.
