The Lisaine (French: Lizaine ) is a river in France that runs in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region . It rises in the municipality of Évette-Salbert , northwest of Belfort , in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park , and generally drains south-west to south. At Frahier-et-Chatebier, the Lisaine passes under the never-finished Canal de la Haute-Saône and, after 31 kilometers , flows into the Allan as a right tributary in the urban area of Montbéliard . Here the Lisaine is completely canalised and partly even runs underground. On her way she touches the departments of Territoire de Belfort , Haute-Saône and Doubs .
history
The Lisaine was the front line between the German XIV Corps under General August Graf von Werder and the French Eastern Army under General Bourbaki during the three-day Battle of the Lisaine from January 15 to 17, 1871 .
