Llambi Ziçishti (born December 13, 1923 , † September 17, 1983 ) was an Albanian politician of the Labor Party of Albania , who was Albania's Minister of Health between 1974 and 1982. He was sentenced to death and executed for alleged coup attempts and attempted poisoning of General Secretary of the Labor Party, Enver Hoxha .

Life

Ziçishti was involved in the partisan movement in the Devoll and Korça districts during the Second World War . After the founding of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania on November 29, 1944, he began studying medicine in Romania , which he completed in 1953. He then worked as a surgeon in Tirana and later became director of Hospital No. 2 in Tirana before becoming dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of Tirana .

On October 28, 1974, he was elected for the first time for the Party of Labor of Albania (PPSh) as a member of the Albanian Parliament (then Kuvendi Popullor ), to which he belonged from the eighth to the ninth legislative period on May 15, 1982.

On October 30, 1974, Ziçishti became Minister of Health (Ministër i Shëndetësisë) in the sixth government of Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu . On July 1, 1982, he was removed from ministerial offices along with Foreign Minister Nesti Nase and replaced by Ajli Alushani . A few months later, on November 23, 1982, Defense Minister Kadri Hazbiu was replaced by Prokop Murra . In addition, Interior Minister Feçor Shehu , who had previously worked for a long time in management positions of the Sigurimi secret service , most recently as its head, was dismissed. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu, who committed suicide on December 17, 1981, all are said to have prepared a coup and the liquidation of Hoxha on behalf of the CIA , the Yugoslav UDB and the KGB .

He was also accused of trying to poison Enver Hoxha in 1973 as director of Hospital No. 2 . On the other hand, during the autopsy of Mehmet Shehu, he had expressed doubts about Shehu's death, which was officially described as a suicide. The trial against him began in November 1982, at the end of which he was sentenced to death in September 1983. On September 17, 1983, the death sentence was carried out .
