Lore Krainer

Lore Krainer (born November 4, 1930 in Graz , Styria ; † July 3, 2020 in Oberwaltersdorf ) was an Austrian cabaret artist , singer , composer and author .

Life

Lore Krainer received piano lessons, attended grammar school, studied at the Graz Conservatory and completed the piano master class. For a few years she also worked at a theater school.

From 1950 to 1965 she worked with her husband, the buffo tenor Günther Krainer , as a pianist and entertainer in Switzerland. In 1968 the two returned to Graz and ran the “Girardi-Keller”, a specialty restaurant in the house where Alexander Girardi was born in Graz, Leonhardstrasse 28, where she performed with her own lyrics and songs. In 1972 she was engaged by Gerhard Bronner in his Viennese cabaret Fledermaus .

From October 30, 1978 to June 28, 2009 Lore Krainer could be heard every Sunday morning in the radio cabaret Der Guglhupf on Ö1, founded by Gerhard Bronner and Peter Wehle .

For several years she worked in the ORF television program Seniorenclub .

In 1984 she was the first non-Viennese woman to be awarded the Nestroy Ring .

In her free time, she liked to play tarot , namely the variant Königufen , and was also known as "the doyenne of the Austrian tarot". She scored several tournament wins in that game.
