The Lorenzispitze (Italian Cima San Lorenzo , 2483 m slm ) is a mountain in the Sarntal Alps . It is the first summit of the side ridge branching off from the eastern Sarntal main ridge in the direction of Königsangerspitze . Just under a kilometer northwest of the summit is the higher Plankenhorn ( 2543 m ), where this side ridge joins the main ridge. From the north, from the Schalderer valley , the Lorenzispitze is quite distinctive, from the south it is somewhat inconspicuous.
The name of the mountain probably goes back to the Laurentius patrozinium von Feldthurns . In Peter Anich's Atlas Tyrolensis from 1774, the mountain appears to be quite significant, while the neighboring Kassian or Königsangerspitze are not recorded. Today the Lorenzispitze is clearly overshadowed by these two neighbors in terms of tourism and is much less visited than these. This is especially true in summer, as the Lorenzispitze is very popular as a ski tour.
Climbs
The ascent takes place almost exclusively from the south. The valley location is Latzfons , as a starting point there are various parking spaces north or northwest above Latzfons. Various paths lead from there to the summit structure of the mountain, which can be easily climbed over the south ridge . The Klausner Hut , which is managed in summer, can be used as a base. It is also possible to climb from the Plankenhorn via the connecting ridge. The ascent routes are only partially marked , and some are pathless.
