Lori Chalupny Lawson (* 29. January 1984 in St. Louis , Missouri as Lori Chalupny Christine ) is a former American football player and -trainerin.

Career

Chalupny began her football career in 2006 with the WPSL participant River Cities Futbol Club . Before the 2009 season , she was the WPS - Franchise Saint Louis Athletica allocated for it ran aground the following two years. From 2010 to 2011 Chalupny then played for league competitor Atlanta Beat before she completed a season with the Chicago Red Stars in the WPSL Elite after the WPS was dissolved . She then moved to the Swedish first division club AIK Fotboll Dam , where she played nine games in the 2012 season , during which she scored a goal.

In February 2013 Chalupny was hired as a so-called free agent by the newly founded NWSL franchise of the Chicago Red Stars. She made her league debut on April 14, 2013 against Seattle Reign FC , in this game Chalupny also scored her first goal in the NWSL. She ended her career in December 2015.

National team

On March 7, 2001 Chalupny made her international debut for the US national team . With this she took part in the 2007 World Cup and the 2008 Summer Olympics , where she won bronze and gold medals. Since 2009, Chalupny has not been nominated for international matches for the US national team on medical advice due to a series of concussions she had previously suffered.

In December 2014 she was reappointed to the national team for the four-nation tournament in Brazil . On December 14th, after a five-year international break, she was back in action in a 3-2 draw against hosts Brazil. She was also used at the Algarve Cup 2015 and won the title with her team, but was not used in the final. On May 10, she came on for her 100th international match in a 3-0 win against Ireland . Chalupny was also called up for the US squad for the 2015 World Cup . But she only came on for one use when she was substituted on in the last sixteen against Colombia in the closing stages. On October 25, 2015, she played her last international match in a 3-1 win over Brazil . In total, she came to 106 internationals in fourteen years, in which she scored ten goals.

During her active playing career from 2010 to 2012, Chalupny gained her first experience as an assistant coach at Washington University Bears , the women's soccer team at Washington University in St. Louis . From 2013 to 2017 she worked in the same position for the team at Maryville University in Town and Country . At the beginning of 2018, Chalupny rose to head coach there.
